Maria H. Bravo was the founder, President and designer of the 100% Alpaca brand name. For several years Maria worked single handed all the aspects of her new company.
Nowadays Quintessence & Co. has other members, Maria’s daughter Alejandra and her son Rodrigo, both of them working full time, leading their company into the new Century. Alejandra is in charge of the New York Ranch and she also designs for Quintessence & Co. Rodrigo is in charge of the breeding programms and the colour Genetics of the American Ranch, the Chilean Ranch and the European Associates with Maria. Colour Genetics in Alpacas is a fascinating subject, due to the fact that Alpacas are the only fibre producer animals in the world that produce more than 28 stunning colours.
The company’s farm for the american market is located in Callicoon, New York, just two hours from the heart of the fashion world in Manhattan. The main breeding farm and “Centre for Genetic improvement” for the rest of the world is in Llay-Llay in Chile. Maria has distinguished her company internationally by incorporating the breeding and exportation of the finest Alpacas in and to countries such as England, Germany, France, Italy, Finland and Spain. These animals are always found in the top league to fetch ribbons in shows on the continent. Her new engagement lies in the introduction of her Quality Alpacas to the African Continent. Sacoyo is the proud partner and the South African Alpaca world will benefit from Maria’s experience and enthusiasm.
By selecting and breeding her own animals, Maria has the unique capability of breeding for her favourite colours with the quality of the fleece she produces. The fleeces are then designed into fabrication that ranges from lightweight crochet knits to substantial hand woven fabrics. 
These garments are at the moment mostly available in the USA. But soon a fibre mill will be build so that she can carry the quality she breeds in her animals right through to the final product.
Maria’s love for the Alpaca and its many qualities are demonstrated in the extensive variety of designs she continues to create as well as in the top quality Alpacas produced, sold and exported year after year around the world.
